No Product - No Problem

Filed Under: AdSense, Business, Getting Started

One of the biggest hang-ups that people have about starting a business is trying to figure out what product they are going to sell. Believe me, you can give yourself a brain cramp trying to figure it out. Here’s the thing, you don’t need a physical product. You don’t need to resell someone else’s product and you don’t need to invent a new product yourself. You can go a long way by setting up a website where you give people information. By giving people information, your site becomes valuable destination and what is left is for you to monetize your destination (that last bit sounds harder than it really is).

Basically it works like this. You create the content for your website, articles if you will, on your topic. You then add various ways to monetize the “eyeballs” that come to read your article using Google AdSense, affiliate links or even banner ads. You get paid when people click on your affiliate links or ads from Google. Simple…in theory. There is obviously a little more to it than that and it is hard work (however, there isn’t a “no work” method of making money, on the Internet or elsewhere). The hard part and the big unknown with this is that in order to have a chance of making money, you need to get people to you site (but that is a topic for separate posts).

This is not an overnight get rich quick scheme. It will take time. But, put in the time and the work and it will pay out in the end. There is a “course” out there called AdSense videos by Michael Cheney. At $100, they are a bit pricey, but, they are well worth the money especially if a) you are committed to giving this a go, and b) you are new to the whole concept. While a lot of the information and techniques he provides can be found for free if you look hard enough, the step-by-step guide that he has put together is much simpler and he has culled the information down into easily digestible chunks and culled out what you don’t need. I will do a full review on his product, but trust me, I did a lot of research before I plunked down for it (and I am familiar with a lot of the techniques he talks about) and it is not only legit, but also well worth the investment. After all, given that your website won’t cost you more than $15.00 to set up, adding $100 isn’t all that significant when you really think about it.
